What can I learn from someone who puts me down?

SS's picture

Everyday this person goes out of their way to put me down in one way or another and everyday I try to see what I can learn from this person and what I can acknowledge.  I always have the best intentions each day but without fail they strike upon me.  How can I possibly go near someone so hurtful?

Its frustrating when you find

Meta's picture

Its frustrating when you find yourself around these individuals.  It could be a situation where the other person is projecting their chatter onto you.
What are you needing in this moment?

What are your intentions for yourself?
Also is it okay to take a break from this person?
(Wasn't sure if it was a work situation.  It can somewhat more challenging if you sit next to someone everyday).

The beautiful thing about each day is that it changes.  I hope this day changes for you!

It is a work situation and I

It is a work situation and I logged back in because I realized the same thing Meta!  This must be a projection of themselves.  I feel lighter knowing that it isn't me!  Now I can try smiling from a compassionate place instead of grimacing!

Great insights

Our masters always see us as whole.  How can you see them in their highest light?

I find written appreciations of others in a journal, when in an appreciative place, works wonders toward feeling better in all aspects.

My favorite turn of phrase for these peeps is, "What someone else thinks of me is none of my business".

You are spot on track.  Smiles, Jim

Try appreciations

Try authentically appreciating the "problem" person and you might find the whole situation transformed. I'd like to know how it turns out if you decide to try this.
